Police Officer Suspended For Giving Homeless Guy A Dog Sh*t Sandwich Gets His Job Back In Texas

This police officer from Texas who was fired from his job after feeding a homeless man dog feces has officially returned to his post after his termination was overturned in an appeal.

Matthew Luckhurst, a bike patrol officer in the San Antonio Police Department had previously admitted to intentionally putting dog poop in bread and leaving it in a food container beside a homeless man. He pulled this cruel and inhumane prank while on duty last May 6, 2016.

The police officer said that he just stumbled upon the bread and animal poop by chance when he was patrolling the streets with another officer. All these random items were on the street beside a pile of personal hygiene products and condoms, along with some vomit.

Luckhurst said that while he was attempting to clean up the mess, he used the bread to pick up the feces so as not to have any contact with it, before he placed it inside the food container.

He then put the “sandwich” beside a transient man in order to clear the area from people. The homeless man then picked up the container and smelled the sandwich before throwing it to the ground, as reported by KSAT.

According to the police arbitration documents, the other bike officer then began to reprimand Luckhurst by telling him: “You can’t be doing that. You have to go pick that up.

Last October 28, 2016, Luckhurst got suspended from his job.

After an investigation was made regarding the events, the suspension of Luckhurst was overturned because it appeared that the incident could not have happened on the said date as the police officer was injured in a martial arts class and was assigned to light duty between April 6 to June 14, 2016 and he wouldn’t have been allowed to ride a bike during this time.

Because the wrong date was reported, the alleged incident seemed to have happened outside the 180-day window within which discipline against the officer was allowed, which gave Luckhurst immunity from receiving disciplinary measures.

KSAT reports that, despite his luck, Luckhurst is yet again facing arbitration for another indefinite suspension on a separate incident that also involves feces.

After his suspension back in October 2016, Luckhurst and another officer defecated in the women’s restroom in the downtown San Antonio bike patrol office without flushing it. According to the termination paperwork that was submitted last November 2016, they then got a brown substance with an appearance and texture of tapioca and spread that all over the toilet seat to make it seem that the toilet was filled with fecal matter.

According to the city’s human relations department, this trouble maker that often likes playing with fecal matter is currently enjoying police union protections, although he hasn’t been given any new date for his arbitration hearings.

City manager Erik Walsh made a statement saying:

“Clearly, the current collective bargaining agreement limits the Chief’s ability to appropriately discipline officers that deserve to be disciplined. We intend to bring those issues to the next contract negotiation with the police union.

I am hoping the police union will agree that these cases tarnish and impact the community’s confidence in our police department. The residents of San Antonio expect better behavior from police officers than what these individuals demonstrated, and frankly, so do I. Fortunately, the conduct of these few does not reflect of the high character of the more than 2,300 other officers on the streets protecting our community today.”
